E-Commerce Growth
Any one who is not convinced of the viablitiy of the E-commerce sector only needs to take a quick glance at statistics to see the growth. Total U.S. e-commerce sales for the 2000-2009 period has shown a steady increase in the annual growth.T otal sales via e-commerce have grown from $27.6 billion in 2000 to $143.4 billion in 2009, a compound annual growth rate of 20.11 percent. This is an impressive accomplishment, given the economic turmoil that the country has experienced during this period (including the dot.com crash). Recently, “Cyber Monday,” the first Monday following the US Thanksgiving, posted record sales at over one billion dollars in E-commerce sales. It is clear that online business is continuing to grow, despite a sluggish economy.
